The plunger installs on the door side, and the nylon receiver end installs on the trailer body.  Mounting holes for the plunger side are 1 9/32" apart, measured center to center.  Install white nylon receiver with one sheet metal screw. Three sizes available, measured by tip of plunger to trailer wall. Available in polished steel/zinc or stainless steel, with a swivel base or a 30-degree bend.

Door Holder- 2 Piece with Pivoting Stem + Socket

This product makes perfect sense to install anywhere an animal or person may come into contact with a protruding stem on a door holder. It can be installed so that the stem folds downward or upward when not in use. It can also be installed to adjust in four sideways positions for a door that needs to fasten at a 45 or 90 degree angle. Comes in steel w/zinc finish only, in 2" and 3" lengths.

2" protrudes 2 3/4" from the wall in the straight position, and 2" in the 45 degree position.

2-piece set includes a natural round rubber socket with a bonded steel plate inside, 1 1/2" in diameter. It is threaded to hold the hard plastic plunger, which is 1 1/16" long. Overall length of both products, when closed, is 1 1/2", so if that is the distance between the door & body of the trailer, this is the product you should order. If the distance is farther, there are longer plungers sold separately below.

 *Order the 12 lb. pull or the 6 lb. pull for applications such as drop-down feed doors or trailer windows or any other place where you might risk damaging the door by tugging too hard on it. It has a standard diameter prong.

*Order the 40 lb. pull set or the 25 lb. pull set for applications such as heavy trailer doors. It has a larger diameter prong.

*Mounting screws not included.   Use a #12 X 1 1/4" pan head sheet metal screw or #12 machine screw & jack nut to fasten the receiver, and a #12 X 1 1/4" pan head screw to fasten the plunger (available on the Fastener page).

Door Holdbacks-Round Rubber Receiver Ends ONLY

It is the large round rubber socket side of this door holdback that eventually fails. It has a bonded steel plate inside. Choose 40 lb. or 25 lb. pull for trailer doors, and 12lb. or 6 lb. pull for feed doors & drop-down windows.

1", 2" & 3" Hard Plastic Replacement Plunger for Door Holdbacks

Trail Pals tip: You should never tug hard on your door to disengage the holdback, because you can tweak your expensive door or stress the hinges. If the fit is too tight (too much pull), the head of the plunger can be shaved until the proper fit is obtained.

1", 2" & 3" Hard Plastic Replacement Plunger ONLY for black rubber door holdbacks.  Center hole for screw installation.

The 1" plunger is heavy-duty, and may be just what you need to hold your door tighter than the standard. 

The 2' & 3" may help if you need just one or two more inches of clearance to make your door shut properly, especially on V-shaped, aerodynamic tack rooms built over the tongue of the trailer.

These plunger heads are sized to be used with our 25 lb. & 40 lb. door holdback receivers sold above.

Spacer/Extender for Door Holdbacks

Can be used in combination with the above products to to extend either the plunger side or the receiver side to 2 1/4" longer. On the large side, it fits the receiver side of the door holdback and on the small side it fits the base of the hard plastic plunger. Has the appropriate size hole through the center. Can be paired with the angle brackets sold below to extend either side of the door holdback.

*Install with appropriate length #10 sheet metal screws.

30 % Angle Bracket for Door Holders and Door Holdbacks

These professionally-made angled brackets are sometimes used to adjust the angle of door holders or door holdbacks where the receiver or female side is fastened with one screw or small bolt. Usually installed on the body of the trailer where the door touches it when open.  2 7/16" screw centers on brackets.

Example: The tack room door touches the trailer tongue (or near it) when it's opened. The receiver is fastened through the mounting hole with a small bolt & nut and then the bracket is fastened to the angled edge of the trailer tongue.

Plastic / Nylon Positive Door Holder

Designed to hold doors open against the side of a trailer body, the hook manually engages and disengages. The brackets are made from injection molded nylon/plastic, in a medium gray color. These are a big improvement over the original installed on most trailers---these are industrial strength! The stems are now a pliable 3/8" thick, and would be very hard to break.

*Screw centers are 1 1/4" apart on the short side, and 1 3/16 apart on the long side of the mounting bracket. Both sides have the same size bracket.

For convenience and versatility, this type of door holder can be installed in addition to the type of door holdbacks sold above that engage & disengage with "no hands", on the same door. You might use one everyday & additionally engage the other on a windy day.

The "arm" side that installs on the trailer door can also be installed so it fastens into the catch from the side, although it's slightly harder to disengage it.

Two pieces. The "snap/catch" side attaches to the wall of the trailer on a bracket with 4 holes. The "arms" hangs from a door-side bracket (w/2 holes) when not in use. Two hands are needed to snap the arm into the catch bracket. Also, two hands are needed to hold the catch open in order to release the arm. This door holder cannot disengage unless it is manually released, even if it is bumped or pulled. Super strong--good for windy areas or heavy doors.  In brightly polished cast-aluminum.

The 2" LISA will hold the door 3 1/2" away from the trailer wall.

The 4" inch LISA will hold the door 5 1/2" away from the trailer wall.

The 6" inch LISA will hold the door 7 1/2" away from the trailer wall.

The 10" inch LISA will hold the door 11 1/2" away from the trailer wall.

This just might be the solution you have been looking for to hold trailer or feed doors in an open position, especially on aluminum  trailers.
