."Ball
Mounts & Hitch Balls"
There is
no room for guessing when towing a trailer
loaded with animals!
These are are some basic towing tips:
The
vehicle's maximum towing capacity is determined
by the manufacturer. It usually can be found in
the owner's manual or sometimes on a sticker
near the inside of the front door, or in the
glove box. The hitch welded or bolted to the
underside of the truck should be Class V. A
Class IV can be used in some cases, but only
with weight distribution bars added. Gross
Trailer Weight (GTW) is the weight of the
trailer fully loaded (trailer weight, animals,
tack, hay, etc). The TW is the weight that the
tongue of the fully loaded trailer
exerts down on the ball & ball mount. The tongue
weight is usually 10%-15% of the gross trailer
weight. The GTW & TW must conform to the
vehicle's maximum towing capacity. We recommend
using only a solid (not hollow) ball mount when
hauling animals. The ball mount & ball weight
rating must match or exceed the hitch & trailer
in towing capacity. The pairing of ball & ball
mount will be rated together only as high as
it's weakest component.
Many
other
safety factors apply when towing, such as having
working electric brakes connected to a a
brake controller mounted in the cab of the
vehicle, a breakaway brake cable kit installed
(with a charged 12 volt battery), and an
electric light/brake cable running from the
trailer to a plug in the rear of the tow
vehicle. You'll need an added transmission oil
cooler for automatic transmissions, and properly
installed safety chains.
All of the items
mentioned above should be installed by a trailer
professional. The balls & ball mounts sold below
are meant only as replacement items or upgrades
to existing professionally installed trailer
towing systems.

Multi-Ball Hitch Bar |
 |
A very handy tool if you
have to move multiple trailers with different size balls
around the farm or yard with a vehicle like a ATV, small
truck
or tractor, or are hauling a trailer with a low base. (It won't work if you need any
size of
drop.) Just
rotate and re-position the 5/8" hitch pin in the 2" receiver
tube.
Features a heavy-duty solid steel
shank with a black powder coat finish. Three welded steel 1 7/8", 2" and 2 5/16" balls.
The 1 7/8" ball is rated at 6K, and the other two balls
are rated at 10K. |

Alumistinger Ball Mounts
|

*All
of these Alumistingers by Andersen feature a
1" hole.
*To be safe, you
must
pair these Alumistingers with a 8,000 lb.
(or higher) rated ball.
|
These well-known ball mounts are solid
aluminum, and solid ball mounts (not the
hollow type) are what is recommended for
towing animals in trailers.
Available in a 2", 4", 6", 8", and 10"
drop or rise with a
continuous
shine that will last a lifetime.
These
ball mounts will never rust.
Fits
a standard 2" square receiver.
These are the lightest
and strongest ball mounts on the market,
made of aircraft
aluminum alloy which is 30% stronger than
steel.
Fully tested and
verified by an independent lab.
All 5 sizes of these
Alumistingers are rated exactly the same:
8000 GTW/ 800TW (Gross Trailer Weight/Tongue
Weight). Please read the information
found on your trailer to be sure this is the
setup you should have.
*For maximum
strength, you
must
pair these Alumistingers with a 8,000 lb.
(or higher) rated ball. You may use a 10K,
12K lb. or 14K rated ball,
but then the ball mount rating will stay at
8,000lbs., because the pair is only rated as
strong as the weakest component.
*Order carefully---these
ball mounts are NOT RETURNABLE!
The most common mistake is ordering a ball
mount that will scrape the ground when
driving over bumps or up & down steep roads,
because the vehicle doesn't provide enough
clearance. |

Ball Mounts |

By
Diversi-Tech |
A traditional looking ball
mount, in solid aluminum.
These polished aluminum ball
mounts are precision machined and have a
aircraft-strength billet aluminum body. They
are made in ONE PIECE, for strength,
with no welds or seams. Solid
ball mounts (not the hollow type) are what
is recommended for towing animals in
trailers.
Anti-Rattle feature:
2 small spring-loaded stainless steel balls,
which eliminate noise & cut down on wear &
tear for a better hitch life.
All 3 sizes of these ball
mounts are rated exactly the same: Class
V, 14,000 lb./ 2,000 lb. GTW/TW
*These ball mounts
should
be
paired with a 14,000 lb.
rated ball, for maximum strength. You may use a 10K
or 12K rated ball,
but then the ball mount rating drops, because the pair is only rated as
strong as the weakest component.

"Convert-A-Ball" Hitch Balls |
 |
Install
the Convert-A-Ball system on
bumper-pull or tag-along ball mounts.
Each comes with one heavy-duty
bolt-on 1" shank (for ball mounts with 1" holes) and
a choice of three possible sizes of
interchangeable
balls--- 1 7/8", 2", and 2- 5/16".
All of the steel chrome
plated and stainless steel balls sold
below are rated at 10,000. lbs.
It's easy to
change the balls--each has a self-handle that pops back into
the ball after screwing it onto the shank (the ball
cannot fall off and no tool is needed to
change it). The same
shank stays bolted solidly to the ball
mount at all times. What a great product!
Choose from chrome
plated or
stainless steel and 2-ball or 3-ball sets,
all rated at 10K.

Trailer Hitch
Balls |
 |

on ball mounts. They are
heat-treated & chrome plated---they look great &
will perform well. All rated
at
12,000
lbs.
Check the labels on your tow vehicle & on
your trailer for weight rating information.
Always use a solid ball mount when hauling
large animals. Choose a ball mount & ball
rated the same as your truck & trailer, or
higher. Remember, the pairing of ball
